Near the village Mantzavinata, in the Paliki peninsula, there is a big rock which has the capacity to move rhythmically and continuously. This is a universally unique phenomenon and its value adds to the fact that it is extremely strange, since it opposes to the logic which suggests that such a large rock should be stabilized and unyielding.

It is said that several years ago the British fleet ships tried to move the rock without, however, having the desired result for them.

Following the earthquake of 1953, the rock's movement was reduced to a minimum and practically stopped due to displacement of its base.  Some people even claim that a small movement can still be observed when placing a knife in a slit. In any case, this phenomenon has now ceased to exist, at least to the extend that it existed in the past.
